Anything else that is said about him

"Don't roust your faith bird-high an' you won't do no crawlin' with the worms." (123)
"We ain't asked you for nothin'." (171)
"You got the right to say if you wan' neighbors or not." (183)
"I'm just trying to get along without shovin' nobody around." (14)
He's the hospitable, go with the flow type. He likes to give advice and I think he likes to work hard and not take shortcuts or cheat things.
"Tom grinned affectionately at him." (107)
"eased the door open and slipped into the seat" (12)
"he leaned down loosened his shoe laces, an did not tie the ends again" (9)
"He looked sidewise at her, studied her, and his eyes seemed to ask how shoe could know such things." (103)
"Al saw the dark brooding eyes of his brother, and the prison calm, the smooth hard face trained to indicate nothing to a prison guard, neither resistance nor slavishness." (115)

"You give her a goin'-over, you figerd her out"
He talks to casy like if you treat him right he'll
have you back but if you mess with him, that would
be a bad idea.
"He rolled a cigarette slowly and perfectly"
Means hes precise and
could care less if someone told him so
"The truck drove out of sight, than he took
a drink of whiskey" When the truck drives
away and takes a drink of whiskey
it seems like tom is like"oh well
another person ill never see again
"sure you wont have a snort" Tom askes the
man if he wants a drink of whiskey almost
like hes trying to see how much he can get
out of people to see if he can trust them or not

"I ain't hiding nothin'"
Tom seems to be very open with the man who is taking him somewhere, and it seems like he doesn't want to hide anything from him, so Tom (to me) seems like one of those people who aren't afraid to share their lives with other people
"Joad had moved into the imperfect shade of the molting leaves before the man herd him coming."
So here we see that instead of wanting to "hide" (I dont even think there are leaves) but he wants to see the guy who is singing and get a better look a him.
"Joad was grinning at him, but Joads eyes were sharp and interested too."
I think what he means here is you can smile but your eyes tell it different. "Sharp" I am guessing means there is a little glare behind them, and "interested" may mean he's interested in what Casey (or whoever he's talking) is saying.

1. Red outline- We outlined him in red because we believe that Tom Joad is always wearing his anger instead of his heart on his sleeve.
"I'd do what I done again." (35)
2. Mom Tattoo- He loves his mom. I really think he cares quite a bit for her and he definitely respects her.
"Look, Ma, stop your worryin'." (123)
"Tom watched her working, and his eyes smiled." (124)
3. His lips- He doesn't like to stir up anything and also I think he doesn't like to really speak his mind. Maybe he doesn't like to be honest sometimes? "His upper lip was long, teeth protruded, lips stretch to cover them, this man kept his lips closed." (9)
4. Callused hands- Works hard and is used to working a lot.
"His hands were hard, broad fingers and nails thick and ridged as little clam shells. The space between thumb and forefinger and the hams of his hands were shiny with callus." (9)
5. Muddy shoes- He's been through a lot throughout his life some of it bad, where he was stuck in a situation.

6. Cheap clothes- We put that he was wearing a pair of pants that are so cheap holes have been ripped through the knees. "The man's clothes were new -- all of them, cheap and new."

7. His coat- We drew his coat kinda big for him because we thought he is too tall and too skinny. Just like Ethan said a "beanpole".
"The coat was too big, the trousers too short, for he was a tall man."
"The coat shoulder peaks hung down on his arms, and even then the sleeves were too short and the front of the coat flapped loosely over his stomach." (9)
